The present work is the first Latin translation of the major portion of Paul's De re medica and is based on the Greek text of the 1528 Aldine edition. Translated by Alban Thorer (see No. 194), it contains all but his book on surgery. The other books include those on hygiene and regimen, fevers, bodily afflictions, skin diseases and intestinal complaints, toxicology, and the properties of simple and compound medicines.
