Although this treatise contains the revised and expanded second edition of Sticker's work on hay fever, it is the first time his lectures on a group of idiopathic diseases related to hypersensitivity appeared in print. Among the allergic disorders he discusses are those resulting from buckwheat, beans, tree resins, lilacs, chick peas, varnishes, linseeds, molds, primroses, and roses. The treatise appears here as Volume IV, Part I of Nothnagel's Spezielle Pathologie und Therapie.
