For more information on this author or work, see number: 2199

Oppenheim also coauthored this second edition of Der Hirnabszess with his assistant, Cassirer. The work had earlier appeared as the second part of Die Encephalitis und der Hirnabscess (see No. 2209) but was undoubtedly now published as a separate monograph to accommodate the considerable amount of new material that was added to this edition. The authors again followed Oppenheim's customary style of organization beginning with the etiology of brain abscesses and discussing their pathology, symptomatology, diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy. The book was first issued separately in 1909 and appears here in the 1909 edition of Nothnagel's Handbuch with second editions of Oppenheim's works on brain tumors (see No. 2206) and syphilis (see No. 2208), as well as his work on encephalitis (see No. 2210) coauthored by Cassirer.
