Oppenheim collaborated with Richard Cassirer (1868-1925) in preparing this second edition of Die Encephalitis. Cassirer was a prominent neurologist who was Oppenheim's assistant at the Poliklinik für Nervenkranke in Berlin. He also coauthored Die vasomotorisch-trophischen Neurosen with Oppenheim. This second edition of Die Encephalitis was issued in 1907 and appears here in the 1909 edition of Nothnagel's Handbuch with second editions of Oppenheim's works on brain tumors (see No. 2206), syphilis (see No. 2208), and his work on brain abscesses (see No. 2211) which was coauthored by Cassirer.
