In this last medical oration, Boerhaave elected to speak on the Hippocratic ideal and how the honor of the physician lay in being a humble servant of nature. Believed to have been published the same year as the first edition, this oration includes a laudatory poem by Hendrik Snakenburg (1674-1750).
