Heirs of Hippocrates

The Development of Medicine in a Catalogue of Historic Books

Complete Record - Heirs of Hippocrates No. 353

BRUNO SEIDEL (ca. 1530-1591) Liber morborum incurabilium causas, mira brevitate, summa lectionis jucunditate erudite explicans. Apud Petrum Hackium 1662 [18] 198 (misnumbered 190) pp. 15.7 cm.

The present work is in the form of a long letter to Patin (see No. 480) in which Seidel discusses a great many clinical conditions, chiefly those which are incurable. He includes a long discussion on the shortcomings of the pharmacopoeia of his day in treating most illnesses and injuries, especially those with a poor prognosis. Seidel was a pupil of Fallopius at Padua and practiced medicine at Erfurt for most of his career.
