ANTONIO MUSA BRASAVOLA (1500-1555) Examen omnium catapotiorum, vel pilularum, quarum apud pharmacopolas usus est. Ex officina Erasmiana, Vincentii Valgrisii 1549 205 [1] pp. 15.9 cm.

For more information on this author or work, see number: 228

The final work in this volume concerned pills and potions and showed a tendency merely to repeat recipes from other authorities rather than to record new discoveries and the results of Brasavola's own personal experiences. Included at the end of this work is one of the earliest medical writings of Konrad Gesner (see No. 307 ff.), Enumeratio medicamentorum purgantium, vomitoriorum, & aluum bonam facientium, first published in 1543. It is a short alphabetical index of purgatives.
