The present work, along with Mannaberg's detailed and scholarly work on the malaria parasite (see No. 2233), became important contributions to the study of malaria and were used by many researchers in their work. In this treatise on malarial diseases, he discusses the history and etiology of malaria and places special emphasis on diagnosis, complications, prognosis, and therapy for the disease. Mannaberg's work appears here in Volume II of Nothnagel's Specielle Pathologie und Therapie for the first time.
