John Hooker Packard (1832-1907), the accomplished Philadelphia surgeon, has here translated Malgaigne's clearly written and comprehensive work on fractures (see No. 1688) into English for the first time. Packard explained that he translated the text as faithfully as possible but did take the liberty to add notes wherever necessary to explain American views and practices.
