For more information on this author or work, see number: 1561
In Traité clinique des maladies du coeur (see No. 1563), Bouillaud described rheumatic endocarditis and introduced the terms endocardium and endocarditis into the vocabulary of medicine. He did further work on the relationship of endocarditis and rheumatism and established the "law of coincidence" in Nouvelles recherches sur le rhumatisme articulaire aigu en général (see No. 1565). The present treatise is an extension of his work on these two diseases and presents the results of 127 case histories based on his superb diagnostic skills and postmortem findings.
