Choulant-Frank lists some forty-nine editions (p. 91) of Mondino's Anothomia and there are undoubtedly many others that have eluded historians and bibliographers. This rare edition was edited by Joannes Adelphus (fl. 1500-1522) who added his own commentary after several passages in the text. There are two woodcuts in the book. The first portrays the heart and is printed with reversed letters. It shows, in simple diagramatic form, the ventriculus medius which was thought to lie between the two halves of the heart. The other woodcut, printed below the colophon in this copy, depicts a man whose thoracic and abdominal cavities have been dissected and who is wearing a brief covering over his loins. Surrounding the man are the twelve signs of the zodiac pointing to the parts of the body they rule. There is no lettering or commentary to explain the illustration.
