IMMANUEL KANT (1724-1804) Anthropologie in pragmatischer Hinsicht abgefasst. F. Nicolovius 1800 2nd ed. xiv [2] 332 pp. 18.6 cm.
Kant, the well-known German philosopher, was one of the most important thinkers of modern times. He was professor of logic and metaphysics at Königsberg for the greater part of his career and taught logic, metaphysics, moral philosophy, natural theology, and anthropology as well as mathematics, physics, and physical geography. He is, of course, best known for his classic works in philosophy and the impact they had on modern philosophical systems. In this compact volume he attempted a classification of mental diseases. The book is divided into three parts: the first deals with sensation, memory, imagination, sagacity, wit, and originality; the second with pleasure and pain; and the third with the mental differences of the sexes and of the races of man.
