FRANCOIS MICHEL DISDIER (1708-1781) Exposition exacte, ou tableaux anatomiques en tailles-douces, des différentes parties du corps humain. Crepy 1778 60 ll., 29 plates. 36.6 cm.
According to Choulant, Disdier was a professor of surgery and also a drawing master at the Academy of Painting in Paris. The twenty-nine anatomical plates in this work are well-engraved but were most likely copied from the work of other anatomists. For example, the male and female figures depicted in the first plate bear a remarkable resemblance to a similar woodcut in Vesalius' Epitome of 1543 (see No. 291). The entire book, including the text, was printed from engraved copperplates.
