Kagawa is considered to be the father of modern Japanese obstetrics because of his many contributions and improvements to the art of childbirth. A skilled and accomplished obstetrician, he discusses in the present work fetal development, the management of pregnancy and labor, the use of birth stools, the abdominal bandage, and version by external manipulation.
