Founder of the Edinburgh medical school, Monro is the first of three generations of physicians with the same name. In 1719 he was admitted to the Incorporation of Surgeons in Edinburgh. He lectured on anatomy at the appointment of the Town Council and was eventually granted his own place at the University. This work is a collection of the anatomy lectures given at the University of Edinburgh.
