Latin editions of Mead's medical works were published as early as 1748. However, it wasn't until the publication of the present work that his medical works appeared in English. Mead's English translation of portions of Bonomo's 1687 letter (see No. 716) to Redi (see No. 561 ff.) describing the itch mite (Sarcoptes scabiei) are also in this edition.
