For more information on this author or work, see number: 766

An extremely active and able medical practitioner, Mead was often called upon by other physicians for advice and consultation, and undoubtedly prepared his Pharmacopoeia for their use as well as to assist in instructing students. Rather than the usual arrangement by remedy, the book is organized by disease entities, and within each disease category recipes are given as well as Mead's observations on the remedy's use and effect.
