Andry, professor of medicine at Paris, was born at Lyons and studied and taught theology before becoming a physician in 1693. His first published works were in theology, and the present work on worms in the human body is his first medical book. Dealing with the effect and treatment of worms, the book became quite popular, went through several editions, and was translated into English and German.
