One of the earliest works in English on geriatrics, it clearly demonstrates Floyer's independent approach to clinical investigation and establishes him as a pioneer in the field of geriatrics. He discusses diet therapy and its application to diseases of the aged, the use of hot and cold baths, and the importance of carefully recording the pulse. An appendix contains observations relating to the use of oils in preventing and curing many diseases.
