After Du Verney's death one of his devoted pupils, Senac (see No. 823), arranged to have the Duc d'Orleans purchase his papers and manuscripts. Senac ensured that they were published and they appeared as Oeuvres anatomiques (Paris, 1761) and the present work. In addition to the "Eloge de M. Du Verney" in Volume I, the work contains Du Verney's writings on the diagnosis and treatment of fractures, dislocations, and bone diseases. He gave excellent descriptions of the pathology of rickets and an early description of osteoporosis. His account of the isolated fracture of the wing of the ilium, Du Verney's fracture, is also found in this work.
