For more information on this author or work, see number: 649
The present work and his L'anatomie de l'homme (see No. 649) were Dionis' most important contributions. Like the latter book, this work also became extremely popular and was widely used as a textbook. It was published in many editions and was translated into several foreign languages. The text reveals that Dionis was a surgeon with compassion for his patients and that he relied heavily on a thorough knowledge of anatomy. The volume contains many illustrations that depict the surgical instruments and other paraphernalia required for a wide variety of surgical procedures.
