SEBASTIAN CHRISTIAN VON ZEIDLER (fl. 1680) Somatotomia andropologica [sic]. Typis Joannis Caroli Gerzabek 1686 [8] 118 [2] pp., 28 plates, port. 29.3 cm.
Little is known of Zeidler's life and work, although he was on the faculty at the University of Prague and was physician to the Emperor of Prussia. The text of this book fully explains the many anatomical figures depicted in the plates and refers chiefly to Greek authorities, although Vesalius, Fernel, and Bartholin, among others, are cited. The twenty-eight plates illustrate the human body, fetus, and many organs. They were widely borrowed from various sources including Vesalius, Spiegel, Casserio, and Roeslin.
