This is the first of Rhazes' collected works to contain the ninth book of the Almansor, which was the source of therapeutic knowledge until long after the Renaissance. The work was edited by Alban Thorer (see No. 194) who also translated the tenth book. Andreas Vesalius translated the ninth book (see No. 280) and this was his first published work. Gerardus Cremonensis (1114-1187) made the translations of the remaining eight books of the Almansor and Giorgio Valla (see No. 259) translated the Liber de pestilentia.
