Blasius drew upon his extensive clinical experience in preparing the present work on human anatomical deformities. He described a large number of case histories including congenital anomalies and deformities caused by tumors and calculi in various parts of the body. Also included with Blasius' work are three short tracts on monsters--Michael Heiland's (fl. 1646-1676) Historia infantis monstrosi and Moritz Hoffmann's (1622-1698) Historia agni monstrosi and Historia vituli monstrosi.
