Riolan (see No. 450) was as bitter a critic of Pecquet as he had been of Harvey, and in this second edition Pecquet answers Riolan's criticisms with further anatomical demonstrations and a sarcastic poem. Included with both the first and second editions are several letters of support from leading scientists of the day, some of which appear in this edition for the first time.
