In 1653, Culpeper again trespassed on the monopoly claimed by the recognized medical writers when he published this work. It, like its predecessors, had enormous success and continued to be issued until the mid-nineteenth century. The book's subtitle indicates that 369 herbs are listed in the book. They are entered in alphabetical order and each entry gives a description of the plant, where it may be found, the best time for its harvesting, and a discussion of its medicinal uses and astrological implications.
