ADRIAAN VAN DE SPIEGEL (1578-1625) De semitertiana libri quatuor. Apud Jo. Theodori De Bry 1624 [12] 160 [4] pp. 19.8 cm.
Spiegel (or Spigelius) was born in Brussels, studied at Padua as a pupil of Fabricius ab Aquapendente, taught anatomy at Padua from 1618 to 1624, and is considered by historians to be the last of the great Paduan anatomists. Although known primarily as an anatomist, Spiegel was a busy and much-sought clinician, and this account of malaria also contains a description of what is now known as typhoid fever.
