GALENUS (ca. 130-ca. 200) Operum omnium sectio prima [-octava]. Illustriores quàm unquam antea prodeunt in lucem omnes hi Galeni libri. [Apud Joannem de Farris, et fratres de Riuoltella] 1541-1545 Illus., 56 plates. 16.4 cm.

For more information on this author or work, see number: 36

The first Latin translation of Galen's works was published late in the fifteenth century. However, the Aldine text of 1525, the Basel edition of 1539 (both in Greek), and the nine editions of the Latin text published by the Giunta family between 1541 and 1625 are among the more important editions of Galen's complete works. This extremely rare complete edition was edited by Vittore Trincavelli (1496-1568) and Agostino Ricchi (1512-1564). The fifty-six plates in the set deal primarily with anatomical figures and scenes of orthopedic treatment.
