Severinus (or Soerensen), a precocious student, was born and received his early education in Denmark and his doctorate in France in 1571. He was devoted to the doctrines of Paracelsus, whom he supports in this rare book. Severinus extended Paracelsus' ideas concerning invisible agents of disease in the concept of pathologia animata.
