Oswald Gabelkhover (1587-1616) was born in Tubingen, Germany, a member of a family of some prominence. This popular health manual was originally published in 1589. The manual comprises a series of sections on remedies for maladies affecting all parts of the body, including psychiatric and nervous disorders; gynecology and pediatrics. In addition there are discussion and treatments offered on skin and hair care and cosmetic preparations; and feveres, wound treatment, and medicinal formulas.
