Luisini, the compiler of this important collection of works on venereal diseases, was born in Udine and practiced medicine in Venice. He first published the anthology in 1566, followed by this edition in 1599. The work contains the writings of such notable men as Fallopius, Fracastoro, Leoniceno, Massa, Hutten, Montanus, Vesalius, and many others through the early sixteenth century. Boerhaave published a revision of this work in 1728, updating it to the mid-sixteenth century.
