Edited and compiled by Giovanni Bonacci (fl. 1550), the present volume contains a number of works by Fallopius as well as works by Bonacci and Rondelet. The works by Fallopius are wide ranging and include the third edition of his work on syphilis (see No. 334); the plague; a series of short works on the properties and use of balsam, remedies made from amber, musk, the rose of Jerusalem, tree moss, and the palm tree; the diagnosis and treatment of obesity; and vital heat or life. The works are: De bubone pestilenti, Quaestio de principio venarum, De aspalatho, De sandalis, De musco, De ambra, De zibetto, De decoratione, and De caloribus. Rondelet's (see No. 261) De fucis is devoted to the therapeutic uses of the herb red alkanet. Bonacci's, also known as Petrus Angelus Agathus, work--Arcanorum liber--is a collection of his favorite remedies and recipes. Many of the entries are attributed to Fallopius.
