For more information on this author or work, see number: 280
The present work is one of the many unauthorized texts based on Vesalius' Fabrica and/or Epitome that appeared during the master's lifetime. It is one of those which is based on both the above works, clearly acknowledges Vesalius, and contains the name of an editor. The editor was a physician of Nuremberg named Jacob Bauman (1521-1586) and it is believed that the translator was Hieronymus Lauterbach (fl. 1550). The text is a translation of the Epitome (see No. 291); the copperplates, recopied from Thomas Geminus' (d. 1562) Compendiosa totius anatomiae delineatio (London, 1545), are based on both books.
