Cardano did not lack biographers and a number of excellent studies of his life have been written. However, as late as the early twentieth century, his own Latin autobiography (see No. 251) had been translated into Italian (1821) and German (1914) but never English. Jean Stoner has here made the translation, thus making this noteworthy book accessible to new generations of students and scholars.
