GEORGE STANLEY TERENCE CAVANAGH (1923-2005) The panorama of Vesalius : a ‘lost’ design from Titan’s studio. Sacrum Press : Distributed by Emeritus Books 1996 1st edition. [20] p., [2] folded leaves of plates : ill. (1 mounted). 50 cm.

Limited to 250 copies. A fascinating reconstruction of the famous series of fourteen muscle figures from the second book of De humani corporis fabrica (1543) by Vesalius. The eight front and six back views are here reversed from the published originals and assembled to form two continuous landscape panoramas as originally envisaged by Titan’s artists and cutters. Cavanagh was emeritus professor of medical literature at Duke University.
