Heirs of Hippocrates

The Development of Medicine in a Catalogue of Historic Books

Complete Record - Heirs of Hippocrates No. 2331

PERCIVAL BAILEY (1892-1973) A classification of the tumors of the glioma group on a histogenic basis with a correlated study of prognosis. J. B. Lippincott 1926 [5] 175 pp., illus., tables, diagrs. 22.9 cm.

Illinois-born Bailey--neurosurgeon, physiologist, philosopher, and tireless investigator--spent most of his productive life in Illinois, principally at the University of Chicago, the University of Illinois Medical School, and as director of the Illinois State Psychiatric Institute. This book is one of the first collaborative efforts of these two surgeons (for Cushing see No. 2269 ff.). Their classification of the gliomas has hardly been improved upon, though variations of it are now in use throughout the world.
