JOSEPH ARNETH (1873-1956) Die neutrophilen weissen Blutkörperchen bei Infektions-Krankheiten. G. Fischer 1904 200 pp., 30 plates (part fold.). 25.6 cm.
Arneth, professor of medicine at Würzburg, was an active researcher in hematology and published several books on the subject during his career. He demonstrated five groups of polymorphonuclear leucocytes in normal blood and showed how the count of their relative proportions could be used to study bone marrow reactions in disease. This is an account of his original work and the application of what is now called Arneth's formula.
