In this work, Oppenheim has brought together his clinical experiences with brain tumors. He discusses their pathological anatomy, histology, the numerous symptoms caused by brain tumors, their diagnosis, and the various therapies employed in their treatment. The book was first published in 1896 and is here included with his works on the neurological manifestations of syphilis (see No. 2207) and encephalitis and brain abscesses (see No. 2209), published in 1897 as Volume IX, Part II of the encyclopedic series Specielle Pathologie und Therapie. The Handbuch der speciellen Pathologie und Therapie was edited by Hermann Nothnagel (see No. 2040) between the years 1894 and 1905. The Handbuch was wide-ranging in its coverage of medical subjects and contains contributions from the leading figures in German medicine of the day.
