This slender volume contains two brief communications dealing with neuroses caused by various kinds of traumatic occurrences. The first is a case report prepared by Oppenheim after he was asked by the government to evaluate and give a second opinion on a man who had fallen from the third floor of an office building and subsequently developed major symptoms which indicated brain damage. The patient had initially been examined by a Professor X and his findings are also reported. Oppenheim did not agree with Professor X's diagnosis and presents a detailed analysis refuting his findings and substantiating Oppenheim's own conclusions. The second communication is a lecture on traumatic neuroses presented by Oppenheim at the University of Berlin during the winter semester 1895-1896.
