This first English translation of Oppenheim's classic text was made by Alexander Bruce, physician to the Royal Infirmary at Edinburgh. In the Translator's Preface, Bruce mentions that the book was translated with the author's permission and, in accordance with Oppenheim's wishes, the work was not edited in any way.
