This work on surgery of the brain and spinal cord is richly illustrated with exceptional black and white and colored plates, which graphically depict the variety of pathological conditions of the central nervous system. Krause was professor of surgery at Berlin where he developed the first operation for extradural excision of Gasserian ganglion for trigeminal neuralgia and demonstrated the utility of whole thickness skin grafts.
