Edmund Charles Wendt was a pathologist at the St. Francis Hospital and the New York Infant Asylum. He worked with renowned epidemiologist and homeopathic physician John C. Peters to produce this volume, which includes a fold-out world map by Peters showing the spread of cholera across the globe. The book gives a history of famous cholera epidemics, theories of its bacterial causes, its symptoms, diagnosis, and instructions on prevention and treatment.
