For more information on this author or work, see number: 2176
Totem und Tabu marks the entrance of Freud's theories into the anthropological and social realm. It is considered by many to be second in importance only to Die Traumdeutung. Freud considered primitive societies to be subject to the same influences as individuals, with the Oedipus conflict playing a dominant role in the evolution of tribal systems, religious customs and symbols. The first edition of this classic is particularly scarce.
