This rare first edition of the first monograph devoted to the occupational diseases of miners and metallurgical workers appeared eleven years after Agricola's well-known treatise on mining, De re metallica, and was the result of Paracelsus' own observations while studying metallurgical operations at the Fugger mines in the Tirol.
