Among the ten colored plates and 223 illustration in this collection are biting examples of the satire and wit of such artists as L. Boilly, Rowlandson, Hallerstein, Hogarth, Gillray, Cruikshank and many others. Many illustrations are from little known early incunabula. No one is spared: doctors, nurses, apothecaries, and all classes of patients, including royalty.
