In this work, Landouzy investigates the paralysis that sometimes occurs in individuals who are afflicted with acute diseases. Among the many acute forms of disease he discusses are diphtheria, typhoid fever, dysentery, cholera, tuberculosis, pneumonia, and a number of different fevers. He examines the diagnosis, pathogenesis, prognosis, and treatment of the paralysis that results from these diseases.
