NICHOLAS SENN (1844-1908) Practical surgery for the general practitioner. W. B. Saunders 1901 1133 [21] [1] pp., 8 col. plates, illus. (some col.). 23.9 cm.

Senn traveled widely during his later years and wrote several books of a general nature that chronicled his various journeys. Even so, he still found time to write on scientific matters and the present work is one of his last on a medical subject. This profusely illustrated text was not intended to cover the entire field of surgery but only those areas of the field that would be of special interest to the general practitioner. Thus much of the book is devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of hemorrhages, wounds, fractures, and other trauma requiring surgical treatment or intervention. Senn also concentrates heavily on intestinal surgery and other conditions that occur in the abdominal cavity, since they are frequently seen in general practice.
