[Alternate Title: Kurs nervnykh bolezneĭ] Kozhevnikov (1836-1902), a brilliant student at the University of Moscow, gained his MD in 1860. His early interest in nervous diseases prompted the state to send him abroad for further study, principally to Germany, England, Switzerland, and France, where he met Charcot. “Upon his return to Russia, he was named Dozent in nervous and mental diseases at the Novo-Ekaterninskii Hospital. He became the first neuropathologist and the first alienist for the Moscow faculty… Later he was invested with the newly created chair in nervous and mental diseases in Moscow… He founded the neurology clinic in Moscow, establishing a neurological museum, financed largely by himself. In conjunction with his students, he also founded the Moscow Society of Neurology and Psychiatry, over which he presided for several years. The present textbook on nervous diseases was a popular manual because of its brevity and lucidity.” (Haymaker & Schiller) Bound with Rossolimo, GE. Vademecum for Students & Doctors. A Clinical Investigation of the Nervous System. Moscow, A. Lang. 1888. First Edition, 8vo. pp.27.
