ETIENNE JULES MAREY (1830-1904) Physiologie médicale de la circulation du sang. Adrien Delahaye 1863 viii, 568 pp., 235 illus. 22.9 cm.
Marey, celebrated French physiologist, was a pioneer in the study of blood pressure and the creator of the modern sphygmograph. However, much of his work was preceded by Karl von Vierordt's (see No. 1856) imperfect attempts some twenty years earlier. Marey is also credited with inventing the cine camera and with being the first scientific cinematographer. In this work, Marey presents a comprehensive treatise on the physiology of the circulatory system in its normal and diseased states.
