This atlas depicting the anatomy of hernia was prepared by two surgeons of St. Petersburg at the edict of Tsar Nicholas I. All but four of the life-size plates are original and the remainder are chiefly from the work of Scarpa (see No. 1110). The book contains an added engraved title page in Russian with the date of 1831. The text is in Russian and Latin in parallel columns.
